The problem:
Handling the repair or maintenance of cars that are not under warranty period.
The goal:
Design an app to help people to schedule an appointment to service the vehicle at the Auto mechanic workshop or at home.
This project was an assignment required by Google UX Design Professional Certificate
Understanding the user

Starting the design
I started by designing this screen that had the central elements of the application, the vehicles with the options to configure services and schedule appointments. Later, I understood that a homepage with related information and a central button to app’s main process, scheduling appointments, worked better to focus users’ attention on a single action.

With the digital wireframes, I created a low-fidelity prototype. The primary user flow I connected was building and car’s scheduling services, so the prototype could be used in a usability study.
One of the first objectives after the first usability study was to improve the appearance of the prototype to avoid participant’s distractions.

The final prototype covers the complete route to schedule a service, differentiated according to the place where it will be performed.
Accessibility considerations
Provided access to users who are vision impaired through adding alt text to images for screen readers
Used icons to help make navigation easier and can be understood by everyone
Used detailed imagery for cars, parts and tools to help all users better understand the designs
Takeaways
I learned that as a designer it is very easy to get carried away by my own judgments, especially when the project takes longer, hence the importance of usability studies and establishing deadlines.
